On August 4, 2026, the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) welcomed U.S. Representatives Byron Donalds and Kat Cammack to the Plant Science Research and Education Unit in Citra, Florida for an agricultural innovation tour from 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The highlight of their visit was an autonomous demonstration of our Rover system operating live in the CITRA field. The Representatives witnessed firsthand how our robotic platform—equipped with advanced AI, computer vision, and autonomous navigation capabilities—performed real-time field operations without human intervention.
The Rover demonstration showcased practical solutions to Florida’s most pressing agricultural challenge: labor shortage and the need for accelerated research that delivers scalable solutions to growers. Our autonomous system exemplifies how robotics, artificial intelligence, and sensor technologies can:
- Increase Efficiency - Autonomous field operations reduce labor dependency while increasing productivity
- Enhance Data Collection - Real-time field monitoring and precision measurements for crop assessment
- Support Decision-Making - Advanced analytics and machine learning models that provide actionable insights for growers and breeders
- Scale Innovation - Technology that can be deployed across different crop systems and production scales
Reps. Donalds and Cammack were genuinely impressed by the capabilities demonstrated in the field. The visit underscored the critical importance of federally-supported agricultural research in developing technologies that keep Florida’s farming community competitive and sustainable for years to come.
